Parents/Guardians of those students who meet the criterion will be notified in writing during the second week of February, 2015. Students who meet the YRDSB intellectual criterion on the individual screening will be considered for possible identification as Intellectually Gifted through the Identification, Placement, Review Committee (IPRC) process. Brief reports outlining the findings of Stage Two screening will be provided for all students. Individual screenings will take place in your child’s school between January 19 th and 26 th, 2015. If your child qualifies for Stage Two, you will receive a ‘Consent for Intellectual Screening’ form between January 9 th and 15 th, 2015. Students who score within the top six percent of those being screened on the CCAT will be considered for Stage Two, an intellectual screening with a member of the YRDSB Psychological Services department. Each student will complete the test at the same time as their classmates, and will be supervised by a teacher. It takes approximately 90 minutes to complete all three sections of the test. The students will be given the Canadian Cognitive Abilities Test (CCAT) a test of cognitive abilities (thinking and reasoning skills). Stage One of the screening will take place between November 24 th and December 5 th 2014. This year’s grade 3 Gifted screening procedure is a two stage process. The York Region District School Board offers the opportunity for all students in grade three to participate in system wide screening for possible identification as a Gifted student. A hard copy of this letter was also sent home with all grade 3 students. ![]()
